Dr. Elder Sylvester Silver, Sr. is one of the college’s senior most instructors, currently teaching in the fourth level of undergraduate instruction. He began his teaching tenure at the college in 2009 and remains an asset to the institution’s staff. His theological intellect and teaching abilities are renown. He is not only a theological instructor but he himself is a devotee of theological learning. He is a graduate of the Charles Harrison Mason Bible College of Portsmouth, Virginia. He is a recipient of an Honorary Doctorate in Theology from W.P. Wiggins Bible College.
 

Dr. Elder Sylvester Silver, Sr. is serving as the Pastor of Gates of Heaven Church Of God In Christ in Suffolk, Virginia. He has been presiding as Pastor since July 2, 1994 and also has been serving as Superintendent of the Greater Tidewater District within the Fourth Jurisdiction of Virginia of the Church of God in Christ since 2004. He previously served as the Chairman of Pastors and Elders Council for the Fourth Jurisdiction of Virginia of the Church of God in Christ and is past president of the Evangelistic Department of the Third Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.  He is also a member of the Suffolk Ministerial Alliance of Suffolk, Virginia.

 

Dr. Silver is a native of Suffok, Virginia. He retired from the Newport News Naval Shipyard where he was employed as an Inspector. He is married to his wife Evangelist Linda Silver. They have been married for over 47 years. Through their union, they have five adult children, two sons-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, and is the proud grandfather of over 12 grandchildren.
